VLC is an acclaimed media player and has been around for a long time.
VLC Media Player has been around for over 10 years and runs on Windows, MacOS/X, Unix-like operating systems including Linux (although not always the latest version), and ARM versions of Android 4.4 or higher.
The program was created in 2001 by Jean-Baptiste Kempf who was just 15 years old at the time! It has support for almost any type of video output from DVDs to VCDs and YouTube videos it can go over the internet or local area networks (LAN), play audio CDs with CD+G enabled. VLC Media Player is a free and open-source media player that plays most multimedia files as well as discs, devices, and network streaming protocols.
